Peak Oil: The Eventual End of the Oil Age
We cannot be lulled into a false sense of security: though oil prices have declined from their historic highs, there is little doubt that peak oil is real. I devoted my Master's project to researching peak oil and found strong evidence in support of the theory. Please feel free to circulate this academic document as a primer on peak oil.

Today, a coalition of 16 associations from around the world issued a joint statement to underscore how hydrogen technologies can help to curb global greenhouse gas emissions. The statement, addressed to the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework on Climate Change, Yvo de Boer, points out many significant benefits to the environment and other areas including the elimination of 80% of the emissions from light duty vehicles, according to studies by Japan, the European Union and United States.

Opportunities Under DOE’s Financial Institutions Partnership Program
Last month, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued a solicitation for one of the most eagerly anticipated Recovery Act energy programs: loan guarantees for renewable energy projects that use commercial technologies. Unlike earlier DOE loan guarantee programs for "new or significantly improved technologies," the DOE will allow approved commercial lenders to lead the application, diligence and documentation, which should expedite the process for obtaining DOE-backed financing.

Not even Franklin Delano Roosevelt could have imagined the scope and breadth of the current federal programs to stimulate the economy. Some of the new federal programs require standing in a different kind of line -- a line to obtain grants set aside for energy-related projects and, unlike the FDR programs, it appears to be the race goes to the swift.
